Tasty Thursdays: Thanksgiving Cocktails

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone enjoys their day with family & friends. (:

To add to some last minute Thanksgiving additions, here are a few cocktail recipes from Martha Stewart to top off the night! Each recipe yields 1 drink.

(top right) American in Paris:
1 1/2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce creme de cassis
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Lemon slice
Combine bourbon, creme de cassis, vermouth, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, and shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon slice.

(top left) Cider Smash:
2 ounces bourbon
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
4 ounces chilled sparkling apple cider
Thin red-apple slice
Pour bourbon and lemon juice into a tall Champagne glass. Top with apple cider. Garnish with apple slice.

(bottom) Cranberry Old-Fashioned:
8 fresh or frozen cranberries
2 teaspoons sugar
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 strip (2 inches) orange zest
2 ounces bourbon
Muddle cranberries, sugar, bitters, and orange zest with water in a medium glass until sugar dissolves. Pour in bourbon. Add ice cubes.
