Model, Incorporated

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

I recently finished this book, Model, Incorporated. I thought it was quite interesting, not so much of a book that would make you think or figure out or have any deep meaning, but more of just a casual amusement. It was written by a famous model - Carol Alt, who has been in the modeling business for more than two decades. She was the first American to be the face of Lancome and was on the cover of over 700 magazines.

This book gives you a glimpse inside the modeling world, where there were some concepts that were familiar to me - not because I've been in the modeling world, but because I have worked in different aspects in fashion that also work with models.

The synopsis on the book reads, "We first met Mac in This Year's Model, when she was still Melody Ann Croft. Discovered while working in a restaurant and whisked off to New York, Mac finds stepping into her new life easier than expected. But one you're on top of the world, all it takes is one wrong step to bring it tumbling down. Getting famous was easy; staying famous will be tough. Mac learned the hard way that the only person she can trust is herself. Will she manage to stay the person she wants to be while having a career most girls only dream of?"<3 Audrey Allure
