Q&A with Tori Vazquez

Saturday, January 05, 2013

Last week, I featured new artist, Tori Vazquez's, song "Fuel My Fire" as one of my song of the days. I had the opportunity to do a little Q&A with her so check it out below!

Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
A: I get my inspiration from many artists and my personal experiences. I enjoy making music that can relate to someone's everyday life.
Q: What made you decide to go into music?A: What made me get into music was my oldest sister. Ever since she was younger she was greatly involved in music. She really influenced me to pursue my dream with music. She was the one who introduced me to the owners of DCL studios, Latoya Renee, and Ernesto Fernandez, who are now currently my managers. I went to DCL studios and showed them a few of my songs and then a few days later, they wanted to sign me as their first signed artist.
Q: Who are your favorite music artists?A: My favorite artists are Colbie Caillat, Jack Johnson, Ingrid Michaelson, Adele, Jason Mraz, Jason Reeves, Sara Bareilles, Paramore, Walk the Moon, Young the Giant, Relient K, and the list goes on and on. But if I had to choose one, it would be Colbie Caillat!
Q: Who do you dream of having a duet with?
A: If I could duet with anyone, I would most definitely choose, without a doubt or hesitation, Colbie Caillat!
Q: Do you write your own music?A: Yes, I do write my own music. In person, I'm not one to physically and verbally tell my emotions and writing my own music helps me convey that message. It's a sort of release.
Q: What do you like to do besides anything related to music?A: I love to play soccer. If ever I get a chance to play I am all in! I also love to work out. I like to go to the gym with my uncle in the mornings and we motivate each other 'cause neither one of us wants to get beat by a girl or a seasoned man! I think most importantly, outside of music, I love to spend time with my family. When I am with my family, there is never a dull moment. We are always having laughs and fun.
Q: How would you describe your fashion style?A: I would describe my fashion style as laid back, indie, modern. If I could have the wardrobe of my dreams, it would be filled with cute sun dresses, lovely print tops, colorful skinny jeans, cardigans, scarves, etc.
Q: Who is your fashion icon?A: My fashion icon..hmm.. I love Zooey Deschanel's cute fashion sense. She has an old-timey feel yet she keeps it modern. And of course Colbie Caillat because her fashion sense is very laid back and comfortable.
Q: What's your favorite food?A: Oooo, my favorire food - it's extremely hard to choose just one, but because I have to, it would be Dunkin' Donuts. The list of my top ten favorite foods are not the healthiest.
Q: Where is your dream city/place to perform?A: My dream city/place for me to perform in would probably have to be Madison Square Garden. So many of my idols have performed there to a packed out arena and just knowing that I could perform in the same place where my idols have would be a dream come true. Not to mention the view from the stage, looking out on the thousands of fans that came to see me perform. The image is unimaginable! This is definitely my dream place!
