IFB Conference 2012

Saturday, September 08, 2012

This season I finally got a chance to attend the IFB Conference. Every year I always had either work or class which was in conflict with the event. I really wanted to go to Lucky FABB though, and I did receive an early invite but I already bought my early-bird IFB ticket and didn't want to break up/split the overlapping day. (Definitely next season I hope to see some of you at Lucky FABB!)

There were 6 panels in total. The first was The Future of Digital Fashion with Lauren Drell from Mashable, Christine Ng from Shopstyle, Mary Alice Stephenson, Scott Lipps from One Management, Andrea Lavinthal from People.com, Andrea Derricks from L2 Think Tank, Carla Dunham from Saks Fifth Avenue, Karen Robinovitz from Digital Brand Architects, and YM Ousley from Signature9.

The second panel was Business of Blogging with Lindsey Calla from Saucy Glossie, Rey Flemings from Stipple, Lalena Luba from BCBGMAXAZRIA, Carol Han from CA Creative, Jessie Artigue from Style & Pepper, Alicia Lund from Cheetah is the New Black, Krystal Bick from This Time Tomorrow, and Erin Hiemstra from Apartment 34.

The third was How to Make Friends and Win Readers with Sade Strehike from Icon Concierge, Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper, Samantha Lim from Fashion Indie, Syndney Liann from Daybook Blog, Carolyn Hsu from Daily Obsession, Kate Arends from Wit & Delight, and Elise Yetton from Pennyweight.

The fourth was The New Entrepreneur with Nichelle Pace from Style Mom, Scott Allan from Rakuten Linkshare, Katie Armour from Matchbook Magazine, Taylor Sterling from Glitter Guide, Eddie Newton from Mister Newton, Katie Rodgers from PaperFashion, Kendi Skeen from Kendi Everyday, and Michelle Madhok from SheFinds.

The fifth was Journalism vs. Blogging with Susan Cernek from Glamour Magazine, Kelly Famel from The Glamourai, Eva Chen from Teen Vogue, Kerry Folan from Racked, Wendy Brandes, Lily Mandelbaum & Elisa Goodkind from Style Like U, Kim France, and Meaghan Mahoney Dusil from Purse Blog.

The last was Bringing Bravery Back to Blogging (which I skipped to attend a breakout session with Jennine Jacob to learn how to make a media kit) with Nicolette Mason, Gabi Gregg from Gabi Fresh, Charlotte Cowles from NY Mag's the Cut, Karley Sciortino from Slutever, Bri Emery from Design Love Fest, and Nate Erickson from GQ Magazine.

If you'd like to find out a bit more on each subject, take a look at my Twitter feed @audreyallure -- I was tweeting & re-tweeting throughout the conference ;)
I did get to learn a bit and meet lovely bloggers -- I even got one of the 20 copies of SheFind's Michelle Madhok's book, Wear This Now, which I can't wait to dive into.

There was also a Bare Minerals makeover booth, and on the second day I decided to get one done since I had to rush to a show & a launch party right after (posts to come soon on those events!). I'm not much of a makeup person & I don't usually put a lot of my face, but after the makeover, I fell in love with the foundation and bronzer they used on me. It was very light and I felt like my face was glowing amazingly.
after my makeover
My favorite part of IFB was definitely the Q&A session with Derek Blasberg and Coco Rocha. Both were so entertaining and delightful.
