NYC Breeze - FTC Blog Event 4/6

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

As part of the Full Time Fabulous blog event, "Contra Unus" was the theme chosen by the FTC Community. The theme was suggested by Sweet from PensandLens. To participate, we all have to post photos about our heritage or the place we live.

I decided to go with the second option; I was born and raised in Queens, New York (& still live in Queens) but I'm definitely a Manhattan girl. I'm usually in the city for classes & spending most of my free time. I know the city much more than I know the suburbs of Queens; I can tell you my fave restaurants, places to shop, galleries, etc. to check out nearby if you ask me from a specific point in the city & I can easily tell you how to navigate there in the quickest time & what the nearest subway stops are. In Queens, I pretty much only know a couple of neighborhoods haha.

Anyway, these photos are conveniently taken in my driveway in Queens (thanks to my lovely boyfriend, who was my photographer). Being a New Yorker, of course I'm wearing black. It's a wrap cardigan I've purchased from Macy's. With that, I paired it with a light blue polka-dotted tanktop, and jeggings. Originally, I was going to wear a pencil skirt but jeggings were much more comfortable - and to commute back & forth to the city, comfort definitely wins so I thought that would represent me more on a daily basis.

The Lulu's bag I recently bought is so cute, and it's big enough to hold everything I need. It's also versatile - I can wear it for interviews, during school, or just hanging out. It's my favorite item at this moment. I wanted to keep my outfit simple, but I wanted it to add a little fun aspects to it as well. So, I also wore my pink cork heels & my big pink beaded earrings.
wrap cardigan: Macy's light blue polka-dotted tanktop: (don't remember, either Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe) jeggings: Forever 21 pink cork heels: Lulu's tan bag: Lulu's pink beaded earrings: Topshop flower ring: Stella & Dot sunglasses: Prada
Overall, my concept was comfort, utility, and stylish - perfect for being on the go :) Follow Audrey Allure.

Really great what you did with the theme of ftf. It is a great way to discover new blogs, because this is my first time visiting. Adore the shoes and very beautifull tribute to your grandma.

The pink is perfect. I had to pop by because I saw your fun earrings in Google reader.

Ooh I have a long history in Queens and just read about Arepas cafe in Astoria. I think the husband and I have to try that when we're back!

Isn't it funny how if you live somewhere, you might actually identify 'the place you live' as someplace else? This is very interesting, and I'm sure many other New Yorkers feel that way as well about manhattan. I like your black ensemble with the pops of color. And your bag is great!!
