Sunday Flowers: Helenium (Sneezeweed)

Sunday, October 17, 2010

This Autumn flower is called the Helenium & is native to North America. It is also known as Sneezeweed - but it doesn't cause anyone to sneeze (unless you are allergic of pollen in general). They attract many bees. As you can see, it's closely related to the Sunflower. They grow up to 4-6 feet and blooms in shades of red, orange, bright yellow, and maroon.

All parts of this flower is poisonous if ingested.

They are lovely but if they attract bees I can never have them in my garden because I am allergic to the little buggers!

Hope you're having a great week :)
