George Gee Swing Orchestra/Naomi Uyama at Swing 46

Sunday, September 26, 2010

I returned again to Swing 46 Jazz & Supper Club on Friday night, with my new interest in swing dancing :) This time, the George Gee Swing Orchestra performed. I previously saw them at a Hudson River Rocks summer event series earlier at Pier 54. It was nice hearing their music again. They played a great set and many couples enjoyed their night on the dance floor.
The only difference was that at Pier 54, John Dokes sang along. This past Friday night, the beautiful Naomi Uyama sang. She had such a lovely voice.
Below, is a short clip of her singing and a view of the atmosphere. I wish I've taken the video earlier to showcase more of the song but I didn't get my phone out in time and I caught the last bit of the song.
The George Gee Swing Orchestra performs at Swing 46 every Tuesday night, but there are some nights that they come on Fridays. You can follow along their Facebook page or check out Swing 46's website.

Amazing! What an amazing amazing night and incredible music. I love female jazz singers- something about how they sing is always so emotional. What a fun night.
