Sunday Flowers: Week 3

Sunday, May 02, 2010

This week is about the Blanket Flower. They can be found in North America and resemble daisies, except as you can see they have petals that are red with yellow tips. They grow in the summer and they are drought-tolerant. The rays are usually 13-13.5 cm, fairly large for a flower, given the name Blanket. They also grow up to 1-2ft tall.

The flower was named after M.Gaillard de Charentonneau, an 18th-century French magistrate (which is a judicial officer).
