My Blueberry Nights

Friday, April 30, 2010

The other day, I watched My Blueberry Nights. (Some of you bloggers mentioned it & I definitely wanted to check it out). It stars the wonderfully soulful Norah Jones and Jude Law (gorgeous!), and even the charming Natalie Portman appears. It even plays "Try a Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding a few times throughout the movie (I instantly thought of Duckie Dale's jam session in Pretty in Pink, of course).

I thought it was a charming movie, sort of a different approach to telling a story about a romance. It's synopsis reads, "Elizabeth (Norah Jones), a restless young woman, travels cross-country working a variety of waitressing jobs and connecting with an old assortment of characters along the way, including policeman Arnie (David Strathairn), his unfaithful wife, Sue Lynne (Rachel Weisz), and a flight young gambler (Natalie Portman). But she realizes that her touchstone is Jeremy (Jude Law), the owner of a cafe she haunted back home in New York."
I enjoyed it, although hearing the cast beforehand already won me over.
And it got me craving a piece of blueberry pie with a scoop (or two!) of ice cream haha.
