Best Blog Award / Handwritten Letters

Sunday, February 07, 2010

Thanks to Pilcuis for this award!
The rules:
To accept the award, you must post it on your blog with the name of the person who has granted you the award, and add a link to their blog. Then pass the award on to others, no more than 7!

I can't choose - I tag all of you!

------------------------------------------------
Yes, I love my Blackberry. Yes, I love email. Yes, I'm addicted to texting, Facebook, twitter, and whatnot. Yes, I love technology. But nothing beats the feeling of receiving snail mail addressed especially to you. Plus, the fact that this person spent a little extra time and thought into handwriting this personalized message.

I only have two pen pals. (All my other friends have stayed here in New York for college, so it seems a bit dumb mailing them something.) One is a friend, Alain, I've met in Texas while visiting family & friends over there. But he recently moved temporarily to Nebraska for a job so we've been texting lately. The other, Sarah, is one of my friends that I've known since freshman year of high school. She currently is away at college in Maryland. It's something fun to do in between the times she comes back home.

Plus, I love writing & creating cute little letters.

Do you write any snail mail to anyone?

Audrey Allure.

I haven't hand-written a proper letter in ages, but I do still send proper greeting cards. I think that's the least I can do, since I don't necessarily have to write a lot. Congrats on the award!

I used to have some pen pals when I was a kid in my 10-14, and I used to really love it. But then the whole technology came and real letters were not as convinient any more. Somehow I don't miss the times, but it's still nice to give or receive a handwritten postcard every once in a while

I agree. Everything just seems so impersonal now with the advancement of technology. Instead of actually receiving a greeting card for a special occasion, can you believe ppl actually send me those stupid e-cards?? I just wannna wring their necks! Lol, I actually deactivated my Facebook, never got started on Twitter or MySpace, thank God. I'm trying to keep things simplistic these days. The only thing I can't seem to do is get off blogspot! :p

Oh, I just love handwritten letters, I used to do this a lot when I was younger and I used to do it with my best friend who was actually in the same class as me :)))) I agree that the person really spends an extra time doing it and it shows how much you appreciate the person :) Thanks for sharing the award :))))) XOXO

No snail mail from me, unfortunately... I guess the problem is I don't have much time to dedicate myself to it, because I really think traditional mail is so much more special and personalized...

I can't agree more there's nothing like getting a cute card or letter in the mail! I try to send my friends out random cute cards that remind me of them. BUT I'd have to say my main pen pal is my grandma!!! Ha ha it's super cute.

Agreed nothing beats a sweet hand written letter. Sadly I have no one to send a letter too, but I have a feeling that once college comes that may change!

Aww I wish I had a penpal :(
I had a few when I was younger - people I'd met on holiday and friends that moved away - but sadly we all lost touch.

Congratulations on the award, Audrey! I couldn't agree more...I would absolutely die without technology, but there's nothing so sweet as receiving snail mail!! :)

Sadly, I don't write very much snail mail. I like the idea of old fashioned letters in pretty cursive, though. I saw Dear John today, and kind of thought about it.

Congratulations Audrey on your Award.
I still enjoy writing letters to my Mother and a few friends, as I love receiving them in the mail.

Happy week

Aww, that's so sweet! I love receiving snail mails too, especially when it's a love letter! It's more meaningful to receive than an impersonal email. I love writing love letters to my bf:)

Hi Audrey!

Congratulations on yet another award ... you deserve many, many more!

I only snail mail on christmas when I send everyone an update on what's going in with the family ... how right you are, it is just precious to receive mail from the actual mailbox!

Snail mail puts a smile on my face, it may be outdated and slow but its thoughtful and personal just like you said! love this post

Hi pretty lady, thanks for stopping by & your comment, your blog is also amazing, I will def follow, hope you do the same :)
And I must say, Im not the biggest technology fan, I dont text, I dont twitter, I still like to make calls and write letters especially birthday letters to friends and family, on a side note my husband writes to me all the time and its so special to read, he refuses to use email.

I think there's something special and personal about writing letters. It's that extra bit of effort that you have to put forth that makes it extra special when that person receives something in the mail.
That's so nice that you have 2 pen pals!
xo
PS: congratulations on your award!

I get what you mean about snail mail. I swear, the post office has been making me smile lately. I've sent two cards to the bf so far and I'm so happy about that :]

On the other hand, I love snail mail in general! The thrill of opening the envelope is an amazing feeling.

I will be writing lots of snail mail this summer when I am separated cross country from my boyfriend (we attend the same college, live in different cities). I think letters are romantic and the idea that they can live forever make me happy and excited! Check out my blog! I was reading your about me credentials and I need your help choosing the perfect picture to submit for a competition!
